Triangle Family Services works closely with more than 40 local public and nonprofit organizations that provide services to individuals and families in crisis. Below are examples of issues that many families are dealing with, and suggestions of where to turn to get help.

To speak to someone immediately about your problem and to get more information about where to get help, dial HOPELINE 211, 24-hours/7 days a week to speak with crisis counselor.

Domestic Violence

"I am in immediate danger of physical or sexual abuse."

If you are in immediate danger, call 911 and report the situation.  Another option is to contact Interact's 24-Hour Crisis Line. 

"I am not in immediate danger, but I still need information about how to deal with an abusive situation."

"I am a survivor of past Domestic Violence."

If you have been a victim of Domestic Violence and seek counseling or support, you can contact Triangle Family Services' Intake Coordinator at (919) 821-0790 x333 to set up an appointment with a mental health professional, or contact Interact of Wake County to learn about other resources in Wake County.

"I am an abuser and I don't know how to stop. I need help controlling my behavior."

Triangle Family Services has the largest Batterer's Treatment Program in North Carolina.  For help stopping your abusive behavior, contact our DOSE Program at (919) 821-0790 x319.

Supervised Visitation

"I have been court ordered into a supervised visitation program.  What does that mean? Where do I start?"

For information about supervised visitation, contact Triangle Family Services' Time Together Visitation Center Supervisor at (919) 836-8740.

"I am looking for an effective and safe supervised visitation program with monitored edxchange services."

Triangle Family Services' Time Together Visitation/Exchange Program allows children to have safe visits with their non-custodial parent and helps keep victims of abuse safe during the exchange of their children.  For more information about how Time Together can help your family, contact Time Together Visitation Center at (919) 836-8740.

Child Abuse - Physical, Sexual, or Emotional

"I know a child that is in immediate danger of abuse."

If you knowof a child that is in immediate danger of abuse, call 911 and report the situation.

"What is considered child abuse?  What are the consequences of an abusive situation?"

"I need help dealing with a situation that may be child abuse."

"I have been a victim of child abuse."

If you are a victim of past abuse and seek counseling to help deal with what has happened, contact Triangle Family Services' Individual and Family Counseling Program at (919) 821-0790 x333.

"I am a parent and worry that I will lose control and hurt my child."

If you are a parent and need help learning how to deal with the stresses of parenthood, or learn how to parent your child in healthy ways, contact SAFEchild at (919) 743-6140. 

Marriage Counseling

"How can I keep my relationship from falling apart?"

"I want to become seperated or divorced.  How do I begin?"

"I am divorced or seperated and I just can't seem to move on."

Parenting

"I am a parent and need advice about how to handle my children."

If you are in need of parenting resources, contact SAFEchild at 919-743-6140 or SAFEchild@safechildnc.org.  You may also contact Triangle Family Services at (919) 821-0790 x333 at to schedule an individual appointment with one of our mental health or family therapists.

Runaway Crisis

"I'm going to run away from home.  What do I do?"

If you are planning to run away from home, contact Haven House at (919) 833-3312.  Another option is to find one of Haven House's designated Safe Places - sites set up in public locations where youth in crisis can get help immediately.  Safe Places are easy to identify by their yellow and black diamond shaped sign.  Many fire stations, Food Lions, Grocery Boy Juniors, Raleigh Community Centers, and Domino's Pizzas are Safe Places.  ALL Raleigh CAT buses are Safe Place sites.  For more information on how to find a Safe Place, contact Wrenn House at (919) 832-7866.

"My child has run away from home.  Where do I go for help?"

Suicide or Mental Illness

"I feel like hurting myself."

"I know someone who is considering suicide."

If you or someone you know are having imminent suicidal thoughts, call 911 immediately.

"I feel depressed."

"I have been thinking a lot about death lately.  What does this mean?"

Substance Abuse

"I abuse drugs or alcohol and I need help now."

If you need immediate help with alcohol or drug abuse, contact the Wake County Alcoholism Treatment Center, 24 hours a day, at (919) 250-1500.

"Am I a substance abuser? I have questions about preventing or dealing with alcohol or drug abuse."

If you feel that you or someone you know may be a substance abuser, but want help assessing the situation, or if you have general questions about substance abuse, contact the Southlight Center at (919) 787-6131.

Eviction

"I had to miss a couple of weeks of work after having my baby, and I didn't have sick leave or medical benefits. Now I can't pay my rent and they are threatening eviction. What can you do to help?"

Triangle Family Services is the only HUD-Certified agency in Raleigh that provides financial assistance and case management services for eligible families facing eviction. If you are in immediate danger of being evicted from your home, contact Triangle Family Services' Emergency Housing Assistance Program at (919) 821-0790 x315.  If no one is available to answer your call, be sure to leave a message including your name and telephone number.

Credit, Debt Management Housing, Bankruptcy and other Financial Counseling

"I'm drowning in credit card debt.  How did this happen and what can I do?"

First, beware that there are many fraudulent "consumer credit counselors" out there that can hurt you more than help you - [Read this article].   If you are having problems managing your finances, contact Triangle Family Services' Consumer Credit Counseling Program at (919) 821- 0790 x307. If no one is available to answer the phone, be sure to leave a message including your name and contact number.
